Here at Sixpenny Button, 95% of our suits and separates are made of wool . . . it’s so versatile and we love it; here are some of the reasons why.

Wool is totally natural wool is grown year-round by millions of sheep, consuming only water, air, sunshine and grass, often in places which have no other use.

Renewable every year sheep produce a new fleece, making wool completely renewable.

Breathable wool fibres can absorb large quantities of moisture vapour then move it away to evaporate into the air. So, unlike synthetic fibres such as polyester, which don’t react to your body temperature, wool is warm in cold weather and cool in warm weather.

Luxurious wool is available in many different guises and can be woven to suit different requirements, from the rough, heavy fisherman’s jumper to the finest wools which are the ultimate in luxury suitings.

Biodegradable over a few years when you are finished with your garments, the wool will naturally decompose over time, slowly releasing its nutrients back into the soil.

And finally it is very stylish.

We have an extensive collection of wools to choose from including beautiful Harris Tweeds from the Outer Hebrides, worsted from Yorkshire and Merino from Australia,
